22 Aug Manta Ray Live Now: New images and exciting video
Recently I had the amazing opportunity to fly alongside a juvenile Manta Ray, whom have a small population in South Florida where I live. Unfortunately these nearly threatened animals are still being caught in the wild to be shown at aquariums. More recently Sea World had one caught in the Gulf of Mexico for an aquarium in the middle east. How can you support the protection and research of these?
Many people may not know but Florida has a Manta Ray population. They have a struggling population but are still able to be caught for aquarium trade under FWC permit. Yes you heard that right 😡. Many of you may have seen the recent video of that exact thing happening. Organizations around the world are trying to help protect these amazing animals. In collaboration with @floridamantagirl I captured this footage and you can support marine mega fauna to help protect Manta Rays! You can also report any that you may see : marinemegafauna.org/americas/florida-manta-project #BeOceanMinded
